Remember when you were a kid and seeing the pizza guy arrive would make you go apeshit? Dogs live their whole lives like that. Now we’re sad adults who have to win the Stanley Cup to feel that.
The worst part? You don’t win it, the guys who played win it and none of the players in your local team come from anywhere close to where you’re from so in the end it’s just a bunch of random millionaires winning a prize given to them by a billionaire while you’re in front of the TV celebrating as if they cared about you.
This is one of the main reasons I never really understood team loyalty. Every year, the team’s roster can be completely different and/or have players from a team/s you were cursing at the previous year/s. (the coach and ownership can change also)
In essence what you would be rooting for is just the team’s name.
I don’t have to win the Stanley Cup to feel that. Sitting with my dad and watching Alex Pietrangelo hoist that sucker was enough to make us jump up and down while we cried.
Their joy is so great, its a gift that we get to share a little bit of it.
When I say this, my dog always does a double take. Like his head shoots straight up and he looks around excited, but he doesn’t freak out until I say it again and confirm that we are, in fact, going for a walk.
Dudes been listening in on your conversations and been disappointed too many times when you spoke about your health.
It used to be so much fun to watch my chihuahua mind her own business and then just say “outside?” to watch her make eye contact and go totally stiff and freeze. Then i would say “Outaide?” again and she would go absolutely ballistic
Mine gets so exited they won’t stay still long though to get the leash on to actualy go on a walk!
