  • In like 2023 and a little last year, I tried out literally a dozen of them. Most of them were in earlier stages of development and were VERY space wasteful whilst also showing very little data AND having no customizations to fix that stuff. I’m currently using Sync, and as long as I customize the shit out of it, it’s bearable.

I tried: jerboa, kbin, connect, voyager, lemmotif, thunder, liftoff, summit, sync, a different voyager, tundra, and artemis.

I eventually got burnt out on trying and trying to customize each app, and settled on sync I guess.

  • The app - Baconreader was so smooth. I’m getting used to the fediverse one, but there are still a lot of decisions by the devs that I hate.

The sheer amount of queer porn - it wasn’t even enough because my tastes are… Varying. But the feed of porn on fediverse is weak as fuck, with a lot of it being really boring and aimed at boring people who are not me (cishet men). I’m confident this will eventually get remedied, but it DID also take like a decade for even Reddit to get good porn, with its own ups and downs.

That being said, there’s still so much more to love on fediverse that I don’t need to look back to Reddit for. It feels like going from high school to a really big, really liberal college (Reddit->fediverse). I can openly do so much stuff, like say fuck nazis, which I regularly do, and very much mean. I can even say stuff like “the only good nazi…” and people will know what I’m talking about AND agree with, thank fuck. It’s just a much more grown up place here, and I’m much more comfortable being closer to being able to speak my mind without having to censor myself, and I’ve noticed this in other people, too, that there’s far less conformity to respectability politics, and people actually say what they think, regardless of how bizarre or unhinged it is, I truly love that.

Last year I was having a lot of threesomes with my bf and other people for days straight and my gf would say I just reek of cum… I went into a trader Joe’s and the looks I got… I was glowing. I don’t know exactly why each person was staring, but I was glad none of the dads asked me about the bruises. It was fun and I felt powerful. Last year was a good year.

    Some spiders are really bad.

    …hmmmm…

LOTS of spiders are really bad, and some are acceptable. As long as there is balance and not millions of brown recluses AND they all stay the f away from inside my home.

And they eat the mosquitoes and ticks and whatever else is bad. But also leave the ladybugs and rolley-poleys and honey bees.

And no murder hornets or whatever… in fact, no hornets at all.

  • I regularly play gw2 and in it there’s a mode called world-vs-world that’s a three way team “bigger” scale battle (bigger than 5v5 pvp) that often has hundreds of players in (I’m not sure exactly how many, I just looked it up but there’s little concrete information because it looks like the devs change it over time, but I’m guessing like 300 total players per map that often gets maxed and you have to queue for).

Players can spend a chunk of gold to enable a toggleable commander status tag on their entire account (you get 1 gold for base dailies, costs 300 gold for tag). In WvW, those commanders often lead larger scale pushes for claiming territory over a ranked “tournament” that ends and resets each month.

I’ve noticed it’s also an interesting sociology study, but from what I’ve seen, the Chinese commanders do coordinate and split up and do pincers and stuff. It seems like one big zerg isn’t as effective since yeah you’ll take what you go for no matter what, but it’s all about allocation of resources and fighting the actual battle… and that takes actual work, when a lot of people are just interested in farming out crafting materials, currencies, achievements, or other reasons. Which is fine, but part of me wants to see the game mode go 100% and see what it’s capable of.

Depending on time of day around the world and when people are awake or home from work, there are huge spikes in activity.

I never played much PlanetSide 2 because at the time my pc was a potato and I was still wrist deep into counter strike. Would those maps ever end? Or was it also like a perma-sisyphean timeless battle? Was there ever a winner?

  • I grew up mowing and hating mowing the lawn. Now that I’m an adult, I mow it exactly once a year. In fact, less than that because one of my partners and I alternate each year.

It gets pretty and nice and like 2 feet long like a natural forest with buzzing bees and the critters love it, then mow it and it dies for the year. Done.

It’s a pity that we have to mow it at all, though. When the early summer sun hits low through it and you can see how much life is in it, it’s like a dream… Then it gets killed and I remember I live in the United States.
