I’ve also come across these. There’s a lot we don’t know, all of these could be entirely wrong.

A 15’ chicken with teeth would be terrifying.
At least it’s only a monopoly because everyone else is apparently idiots when it comes to long term planning. I’m dreading the day when they turn to the dark side. Long away may it be.
I remember there being a newspaper interview with an old lady. She was a child and saw one of the wright brothers first flights. She then got to see man land on the moon, at the other end of her life.
I was one of them. They proved my fears unfounded (so far). They’ve also managed to convert me to a fanboy at some point. I realised I was playing a co-op game brought off steam, on my steam deck, via a steam link to the TV, and the wife using a steam controller.
cynar@lemmy.worldto science@lemmy.world•Quantum Teleportation Achieved Over Internet For The First TimeEnglish1·1 month agoThat’s fairly close. The only proviso is there are some ways to affect the results. You can’t send actual information along the link, but you can prove they were in communication. That proof requires information from the sending end however. It’s only provable once that information is sent. Basically they communicate faster than light, but can’t send information faster than light. Entanglement is weird.
cynar@lemmy.worldto science@lemmy.world•Quantum Teleportation Achieved Over Internet For The First TimeEnglish0·1 month agoYou need to prep by sending the entangled particles (photons in this case). The spooky action is when you act on 1, you also act on the other. The useful bit is the uniqueness of the link. It cannot be intercepted without it being obvious and detectable.
Think of it like voodoo dolls. It works at a distance, but you need to make the voodoo doll using a bit of the target, then send/take it elsewhere to stab.
Correct!
It’s behind the big screens, between them and the outer skin.
Unfortunately not, though it is in London.
cynar@lemmy.worldto Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What software is so user-centric, you can't believe it's proprietary?English1·3 months agoThe key to steam is that they realised that being user centric, while bad for short term profits is very good for long term profits. They are also not publicly traded, so not just anyone can buy in and try and make a quick buck burning them to the ground.
I’ve found their store and setup to be a reasonable balance of advertising to functionality. The fact that you can adjust it yourself is a good example of their mindset. Most people don’t care or find them useful. Those who don’t like them are unlikely to interact with them, so it’s not worth fighting their efforts to turn them off.
The dream router is an excellent base to build upon. It provides all the normal functions (ethernet, wifi, router etc) as well as hosting the control software.
Unifi’s real power is when you expand it. The access points make extending WiFi coverage easy. You dont even need a wired link. It will link over WiFi, either as a primary or as a fall back. The flex mini is also quite handy. It’s a little poe powered switch. I have a couple tucked away providing extra ports around the house.
With my setup, I have detailed monitoring and control down to the port or wifi device. I can monitor and control things in detail, or get a high level view of my network.
cynar@lemmy.worldto Mildly Interesting@lemmy.world•There are SD cards with WiFi supportEnglish1·5 months agoI had good luck with these at my wedding. Instead of disposable cameras, I put cheap digital cameras. It didn’t take long for guests to realise that the pictures were appearing on a large tv, in a sideshow. People got a lot more creative when they realised they would be seen quickly, not weeks later.
I managed to get them working without proprietary software, too. The onboard script logged into WiFi and uploaded the photos over ftp.
Given their size and the level of tech at the time, it was pretty impressive.
The photo looks like an adoration stare. I’ve known multiple dogs that do it. It’s either the equivalent of a loving hug between humans, or an attempt to con someone out of some food.
Dogs are a lot more “in the moment” than humans. They remember traumatic events, but are far less reactive to them, unless something explicitly sets off the memories.
Basically, the dog is either very happy to be spending time with its pack leader again, or just wants the treat they are holding behind the camera.
