I work with a Chinese guy named Feng Something. Is Feng his family name or his given name (or neither? I have no idea how Chinese names work). Also, I heard someone (also Chinese) mention him once, and I thought it sounded more like Fong… how is it properly pronounced?

I frequently have this conundrum as I upload a lot of stuff on my phone when getting ready to go somewhere for work. I find that TV shows gives me more bang for the byte over movies, but I need a few of them to swap between so that I don’t get burned out watching just one show.

Since it’s on my phone anyway, resolution isn’t that important to me. 720p is usually fine. For movies I tend to be a little more picky, so I usually go for 1080p.

Usually I pack my phone with 3-4 movies and 2 seasons each of various shows.

Yeah, same. Take Foundation, for example. I absolutely love the books. And I think the TV adaption is pretty good too. Sure, they’re wildly different, but I’m fairly sure being true to the books simply wouldn’t work on the screen as there would be way too many characters and each sub-plots would be way too short. Adaptational changes are needed for a story to translate between formats.

My only complaint was that Ariel doesn’t have the firery red hair she had when I was a kid. But then again, I’m not exactly the target audience anymore, so I don’t really care. Nor have I seen the new movie for that matter. I hear she did a great acting job, though. I just hope she’ll be able to star in something that isn’t the target of the culture war.
