  • There is enough social psychology research to suggest that most of the time people are more efficient alone than in a group, although some tasks take more than one person. Process gain vs process loss, social loafing, groupthink, etc., if you put four people on a team you might get 200%, not 400% return, or worse.

Interesting, for complex tasks that require thought, the most efficient grouping tends to involve groups with diverse backgrounds and a work culture that values disagreement… which is basically the opposite of what’s going on in American government right now, lol.

  • Here’s a fun take for you: in Japanese its 月曜日、火曜日、水曜日、木曜日、金曜日、土曜日、and 日曜日, which translates to basically moon day, fire day, water day, tree day, metal day, earth day, and sun day— although it’s really celestial bodies, the very same mentioned in another comment (e g. Mars is the fire star, Tuesday).

It’s supposedly derived from Chinese, though they probably got it from Romen influence given similarities.

Anyway, the eighth day probably needs to be 天王曜日 (which is basically heavenly king day) or 海王曜日 (sea god day, aka Neptune) but I’m unsatisfied with that. Plus, honestly it’s way cooler as an elemental theme so my vote is 電曜日, denyoubi or electricity day, in honor of Pikachu. That day would be super effective.

  • Funny enough there’s a whole section of social psychology dedicated to this type of causal attribution. See also: “it was lag!!”

Long story short: personal, stable factors we like it it’s a success, dislike in failure; situational, unstable factors we like it it’s a failure, dislike in success. Self-serving and group serving biases, basically.

  • This comments section is wild. It’s really a pretty simple post even if it’s not spelled out as clearly as it could be; it’s just saying in WW2 an allied bomber (American) was attacked with explosives by Nazi defenses (Germans during WW2) and was thwarted by Czech made blank anti-aircraft shells because they only pretended to work for the Nazis. Given current context, I assume the analogy is that now that Americans are the Nazis, you can still resist the regime by doing what the Czechs did.

That said, I don’t really believe the story since it reads as “and everyone clapped” levels of evidence, but the overall message is fine. This is hope posting, anyway.

    Edit: fixed a term
